Insomniac Events strikes again, as the immortal-like events promotion company announces their first-ever video game themed music festival, PLAY. As the result of rising popularity of eSports and video game streaming Insomniac Events CEO, Pasqule Rotella, dives further beneath the rabbit hole to engage fans into the next level of music and video entertainment.
Prior to the announcement, musical acts and famed eSport professionals have colluded within the last year online and in real life to further mend the bridge between the two realms. Occasions such as when Drake and Ninja popularized the world-renowned game Fornite, Marshmello appearing at the E3 Fortnite Battle Royale tournanment, Deadmau5 self-hosting a PUBG (Player’s Unknown Battlegrounds) tournament for his extended play album ‘mau5ville: Level 1‘, Lollapolozza featuring Ninja on the stage monitor’s between set changes, as well as Rockstar Games featuring DJ’s such as Tales of Us and Solomun as part of an expansion of Grand Theft Auto’s online multiplayer.
No official venue or dates have been announced for PLAY though the festival’s primary focus will be on curation of music, gaming, eSports, cosplay, and theatrical stages.
